Event Details
With the cooler Hong Kong weather, it is time to explore the beauty of rural and ancient Hong Kong again.
MAYCHAM is pleased to invite you to join the Tung-O Ancient Trail (大嶼山東澳古道) hike from Tung Chung to Tai O on Saturday, 3 December 2022.
The Tung O trail was the only passage connecting Tung Chung to the Tai O fishing village before urbanisation. Tai O, at the western-most tip of Lantau Island, is a wonderfully well-preserved microcosm of life in old China.
Starting from Tung Chung MTR, the trail meanders along a generally flat path of about 15 km long. It passes through many landmark points of cultural and archaeological significance as well as some very Instagramable spots. The walk will take up to 4.5 hours. It is suitable for all reasonably fit persons.
Arriving at Tai O, you will be greeted with the sight of salted fish and dried shrimps and a thriving local market. Seafood lunch at Tai O is included.
